WHAT’S DROM BEEN UP TO?

Helping People to Regain and Retain Resilience.

Resilience.

It’s a word we’ve all been hearing a lot. And it’s important.

Consider the following simple facts about Resiliency…

Highly Resilient People:

  • Develop high quality connections
  • Manage stress effectively
  • Develop passion and perseverance
  • Remain flexible and inspired
  • Actively manage change and setbacks
  • Are overall, more healthy

According to Harvard Health, lack of resilience means that you may not handle stress well, and chronic stress can be associated with harmful health issues such as high blood pressure, a weakened immune system, anxiety, depression, insomnia and heart disease.

Our current environment is driving us all to call on resiliency like never before. It’s pushing our limits. As individuals, as parents, as business leaders, we need to prioritize finding and executing initiatives to enhance and retain resiliency in order to function, perform and ultimately stay healthy.

How?

We absolutely need to create opportunities to decompress and reset. To reduce fatigue and replace it with a clear and focused mind. It’s attainable, and surprisingly does not require a complete overhaul or lots of time. But it does need to be a strong focus.

Four things you can do to regain and retain resiliency:

Take Mental Breaks/Reset

If you are working or focused on a task and find yourself distracted and a bit all over the place, take a mental break and purposefully shift your mindset. Engage in a mind teaser, write down 10 things you are grateful for, take a walk and focus on the sounds and smells and sights. Anything to shift your mind completely away from the task at hand. By transferring your attention to something else – even if for just 60 seconds, your mind has a chance to clear and reset which will improve your productivity. Allow yourself mental breaks to reset!

Laugh More

Laughing reduces stress and alters the mindset. It’s just good for the soul. Try to lighten the mood often by finding ways to loosen up, relax and laugh.

Connect

Connecting with others and finding support is a proven way to reduce stress and anxiety. Connect in any way you can! There are many online/virtual options and communities. Try something new!

Take Care of Yourself

Tend to your own needs and feelings. Participate in activities you enjoy. Include physical activity and movement in your daily routine. Get plenty of sleep. Eat a healthy diet. Practice stress management and relaxation techniques, such as yoga, meditation, guided imagery, deep breathing or prayer.
